The “Nursing Satellite Symposium” Two-Day International Conference Held in Yerevan

On January 19–20, 2026, in collaboration with the Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, Open Medical Institute (OMI), the Armenian Hematology Association, and the Association of Nurses in Oncology, Hematology, and Palliative Care of Armenia, the first-ever Nursing Satellite Symposium was held in Armenia.

The two-day symposium provided an important platform for the development of nursing education, exchange of international experience, and enhancement of professional skills, particularly in the care of patients with serious and life-threatening illnesses.

During the symposium, participants received evidence-based knowledge, practical approaches, and professional discussions that reinforced the importance of communication, teamwork, and the role of palliative care in nursing practice.

“Nursing is a key component of the healthcare system, which goes beyond professional duties and includes daily care and human support,” said Hayk Grigoryan, Director of the Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, during the opening address.

International speakers Carrie L. Cormack and Sarah Lowry enriched the discussions with their experience and practical examples, presenting modern approaches to nursing in oncology and palliative care.

The symposium served not only as an educational platform but also as a collaborative environment, bringing together Armenian nurses, international experts, and organizations in the field.
