The Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Department was established in 2016. It is the first and only department in the Republic of Armenia specializing in bone marrow transplantation. To date, the department has performed over 200 transplants for both adult and pediatric patients.
The department conducts both autologous and allogeneic transplants. Since 2020, it has been a member of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), with the identification code CIC-891.
The department performs transplants for both malignant hematological diseases (such as AML, ALL, MDS, multiple myeloma, Hodgkin, and non-Hodgkin lymphomas) and non-malignant hematological conditions (including congenital immunodeficiencies, sickle cell anemia, and thalassemia).
Autologous transplants are also performed for solid tumors, such as neuroblastoma and medulloblastoma.
The department actively contributes to scientific research and has presented abstracts at various international conferences, including the EBMT Annual Meeting 2023 and EBMT Annual Meeting 2024.
