November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Samvel Bardakhchyan
In Armenia, approximately 850–900 new cases of lung cancer are recorded each year. Although there is no single definitive cause of the disease, tobacco smoke remains the most significant risk factor.
When lung cancer is detected at an early stage — when the tumor is still small and has not yet spread — complete recovery can be achieved through surgery in 70–80% of cases.
On the “Aravot Luso” morning show on Public TV’s First Channel, Samvel Bardakhchyan, oncologist, chemotherapist, and Candidate of Medical Sciences at the “Yeolyan” Hematology and Oncology Center, presented the main symptoms of lung cancer, the high-risk groups, and the available treatment options.
