Cancer develops when changes in cell DNA—primarily acquired mutations—cause cells to lose control over division and begin to proliferate uncontrollably.

Gevorg Saghumyan, a hematologist at the “Yeolyan” Center, highlighted the importance of early cancer detection and the availability of modern treatment methods in Armenia during the “Buj Info” program.

He noted that, thanks to the introduction of advanced, high-precision diagnostic and therapeutic methods, it is now possible to achieve high treatment success rates. In particular, for certain types of lymphomas, the probability of recovery is approximately 70–80%, while for acute lymphoblastic leukemia—one of the most common cancers in children—cure rates can reach up to 90%.

The specialist urges the public to disregard common myths and to trust their physician when choosing a treatment approach.
