Bone Marrow Transplant: The Story of a 28-Year-Old Patient

“When you hear the diagnosis for the first time, it feels as though your life has come to a stop…”

A 28-year-old patient was diagnosed with acute leukemia. Chemotherapy did not produce the desired results, and the only remaining option became an allogeneic bone marrow transplant.

The patient also suffered from fungal pneumonia, which significantly increased the risks. “After the disease went into remission, the decision was made to proceed with the transplant,” notes Dr. Nerses Ghahramanyan.

Despite post-transplant complications, the procedure was successfully performed.

Today, nearly 190 days later, the major risks are already behind.
