Armenia Showcases Scientific Excellence at ISTH 2026: Yeolyan Center Specialists Present at the World Congress

The 2026 Congress of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), held in Paris, brought together leading experts, researchers, and clinicians from around the world, serving as a premier platform for scientific exchange and international collaboration. The congress featured the latest advances in hemostasis, thrombosis, and bleeding disorders, highlighting groundbreaking scientific discoveries, emerging clinical evidence, and innovative therapeutic approaches.

The Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center is proud to announce the successful participation of its physicians and clinical residents in this prestigious international scientific meeting, where they showcased Armenia’s scientific achievements, clinical expertise, and growing research capacity to the global hematology community.

Led by Dr. Heghine Khachatryan, the Center’s research team presented 12 scientific abstracts in both oral and poster sessions. The presented studies addressed a broad range of topics, including hemophilia, thrombosis, disorders of hemostasis, rare hematologic diseases, clinical research, and healthcare organization. Together, these presentations reflect the high level of scientific excellence, clinical expertise, and sustained research activity that have been cultivated in Armenia over many years.

A particular highlight of the Congress was the presentation of both previously published studies from peer-reviewed international journals and novel research findings generated by the Center’s physicians and clinical residents. The scientific work attracted considerable interest from the international medical community and received highly positive professional recognition.

The participation of the Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center at ISTH 2026 once again demonstrated that Armenian specialists are making meaningful contributions to international research and possess the scientific and clinical expertise required to compete successfully on the global stage through high-quality research and evidence-based clinical practice.

The Congress also provided an important opportunity for a series of strategic meetings with representatives of international organizations and professional societies. These discussions focused on expanding international collaboration, developing educational initiatives, promoting multicenter research projects, and enhancing treatment opportunities for patients in Armenia.

One of the most significant events of the Congress was a meeting with Alain Baumann, Chief Executive Officer of the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH).

During his remarks, Mr. Baumann highly commended Armenia’s contribution to the adoption of the historic World Health Organization (WHO) Resolution on Inherited Bleeding Disorders, specifically recognizing the Republic of Armenia’s active, consistent, and principled leadership throughout the development and successful adoption of this landmark global initiative.

Mr. Baumann also expressed his sincere appreciation to the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia for their leadership, commitment, and international partnership, emphasizing that such collaboration plays a vital role in improving the quality of life of people living with bleeding disorders worldwide while expanding equitable access to comprehensive care.

Armenia’s participation at ISTH 2026 represented not only an opportunity to showcase the country’s scientific achievements, but also an important milestone in strengthening Armenia’s international scientific profile, expanding global partnerships, and increasing the visibility of Armenian hematology and hemostasis within the international medical community.
