The Number of New Pediatric Cancer Cases in Armenia Has Not Increased
In recent years, approximately 100–120 new pediatric cancer cases have been registered annually in Armenia. During this period, the number of newly diagnosed childhood cancer cases has not increased.
Notably, the recovery rate in our country is approaching the levels observed in developed countries: up to 85% of children achieve full recovery.
The Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center is the only institution in Armenia that provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of pediatric hematological and oncological diseases.
Since 2019, the integration of pediatric oncology and hematology services has created a modern, multidisciplinary system that meets international standards.
As a result, significant improvements have been observed in childhood cancer statistics in Armenia. The diagnosis of new pediatric cancer cases has become more effective, allowing the majority of cases to be detected and treated on time.
On International Childhood Cancer Day, we speak not only about challenges but also about opportunities. Today, all modern treatment options for childhood cancer are available in Armenia.
Today, our center provides:
- Comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of pediatric oncological diseases
- Application of international (European and American) treatment protocols
- Bone marrow transplantation (autologous and allogeneic)
- Psychosocial support for children and their families throughout the treatment process
- Long-term follow-up clinic for childhood cancer survivors
- Cancer predisposition clinic
- Pediatric palliative care (including mobile service)
We cooperate with leading medical centers worldwide and are a member of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Global Alliance.
Thanks to the achievements of the center, children with cancer can now receive comprehensive treatment in Armenia without the need to travel abroad. With the support of the state and the City of Smile Foundation, families are relieved of the financial burden of treatment.
Every day, we continue to work toward improving the quality of life and recovery of every child.
