The Clinical Pathology Department was established on January 1, 2015.
The laboratory conducts histological, histochemical, and immunohistochemical examinations of biopsy and surgical tissue samples. It performs the most comprehensive histological, histochemical, and immunohistochemical studies of hematological, oncological, and non-oncological diseases in Armenia.
The following examinations are conducted in the laboratory:
- Bone marrow biopsy
- Lymph node biopsy (excision, incision, core-needle biopsy)
- Spleen biopsy and surgically removed spleen
- Liver biopsy
- Skin biopsy
- Thymus biopsy and surgically removed thymus
Additionally, the laboratory conducts examinations of:
- Gynecological samples
- Gastrointestinal samples
- Pulmonary samples
- Soft tissue samples
- Bone and other removed tissues and organs
The histological and immunohistochemical laboratory is equipped with modern equipment from Germany, Japan, the United States, Hungary, and China. It collaborates with various institutions in Armenia and abroad.
It is equipped with a histological tissue processing device, an embedding station, a microtome, and high-quality microscopes. The microscopes also feature polarization capabilities and cameras for obtaining microphotographs from slides.
