Participation in an International Conference in Portugal within the Framework of COST Action CA21152 (INE-CSC)

Representatives of the Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, Anahit Ter-Grigoryan, Head of the Adult Hematology Department, and Lusine Sahakyan, Coordinator of the Blood Diseases Registry, participated in an international conference organized within the framework of the European COST Action CA21152 (INE-CSC) initiative.

The conference was held on May 25–26, 2026, at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, Portugal.

Lusine Sahakyan presented a report entitled “Structural Inequalities in Supportive Cancer Care and Their Impact on End-of-Life Trajectories in Armenia: Quantitative Evidence and Implications for Health-System Implementation.”

The presentation highlighted the findings of a study conducted at the Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, focusing on the key barriers to achieving dignified palliative care for adult patients with hemato-oncological diagnoses. The study identified financial, organizational, and cultural challenges that affect access to and delivery of quality end-of-life care.

Participation in COST Action provides our Center with an important opportunity to engage with the European scientific community and share evidence reflecting the realities of supportive cancer care in Armenia, contributing to the development of more equitable approaches to care and service delivery.
